The Early Decision application deadline is September 4, 2019. If your application, transcripts, or fee arrives after the deadline, PharmCAS will automatically change your file from early decision status to regular status.

You may be offered early admission, denied admission, or deferred to regular applicant status. If you are offered admission as an Early Decision applicant, you are obligated to accept the offer and you will not be permitted to apply to other PharmCAS institutions. If, however, you are denied admission as an Early Decision applicant, you may apply to other PharmCAS institutions for an additional fee. Refer to the PharmCAS application fee schedule to determine the cost to apply to each additional program. PharmCAS programs will make admission decisions on early decision applicants by October 19, 2018.

Personal Statement - Part of the PharmCAS application is a personal essay, approximately one page in length, addressing why you selected Pharmacy as a career and how the Doctor of Pharmacy degree relates to your immediate and long-term professional goals. You should explain why you want to be a pharmacist and support this information with autobiographical details including pharmacy/health care work, volunteer experiences, related extracurricular activities, leadership roles, or any other important information.

Letters of Recommendation - Two (2) letters of recommendation are required. These letters may be from an employer, professor, supervisor of a community service project, etc.; however, they may not come from a family member, teaching assistant, co-worker, or friend. You will need to designate your evaluators as part of your PharmCAS application. Try to have an appointment with each of your evaluators to communicate the reason(s) you want to pursue a career in pharmacy and how your interaction with the evaluator is important for the application. You need to provide your evaluators enough time to submit their evaluation to PharmCAS.

Pre-requisite Coursework & GPA

Students who enter LIU Brooklyn in the pre-professional phase begin a course of liberal arts and sciences that is specifically designed to prepare students for the professional phase. If you plan to transfer from another institution, please be sure to work closely with your college academic advisor to select courses that correspond with LIU Pharmacy’s pre-professional plan of study. Wherever you are completing your pre-professional studies you should plan on completing those requirements in the spring semester prior to fall semester.

If you have or will have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university prior to beginning the professional phase of the Pharm.D. program, you will need all the required science and math courses. However, because you will have met the other requirements for another college degree, any combination of 24 credits in English, social sciences, and/or humanities with a grade of ‘C’ or higher will complete the prerequisite course requirements.
